“The Sirens were beautiful but dangerous creatures that lured the sailors with their beautiful voices to their doom, causing the ships to crash on the reefs near their island. Ulysses plugged the crew's ears with wax and ordered them to bind him on the mast of the ship. He also told them that no matter how much he begged, they should not untie him.” [Greek Mythology]
Marta Rodríguez feels Sirens voices –attraction for the unknown. In this dance for film, SIRENS, choreographed by Alfredo Miralles, we experiment with sailing ropes from the iconic image of Ulysses tied on the mast. After suggesting the siren´s shape, the dancer struggles for freedom with determined movements and exotic music.
